As you hopefully already know, here at Muddy Boots Nursery we choose a Charity of the Year to raise money for every January.
This year, our families nominated & chose the fantastic Tiny Tickers, and our head of facilities Steve, along with his son, is about to embark on an adventure of EPIC proportions…
Walking Coast to Coast in 11 days!
The Coast to Coast is one of the world’s great walks! Alfred Wainwright, famous for his pictorial guides to The Lakeland Fells, stitched together two coasts, three national parks and 200 miles of footpath to create the ultimate long-distance walk in England.
Steve & Josh will be following the traditional route, starting by dipping their toes in the Irish Sea, making their way through the English Lake District, into the dales & valleys of Yorkshire, through the North Yorkshire Moors, all finishing with a swim in the North Sea (and a celebratory drink or two!)
Here is a little quote from the man himself:
“Josh and I completed Lands End to John O Groats on our bikes five years ago to help raise funds for Macmillan Nurses after my father and Josh’s grandad passed away.
With no idea how hard it was going to be, we intended to raise £500. We were blown away that the final total was £3,500!
That wasn’t where the generosity ended. From free campsites, a pie specially baked for us (because there were no shops open), and even a couple walking up to us at John O Groats giving us the contents of their pockets!
Our ride was unsupported, we carried our tents on the bikes. Looking back it was madness, we could not eat enough to replace the calories we were burning (I have made up for it since) and an experience neither of us will never forget.
Moving on it is time to get out of our comfort zone once again and support the amazing Tiny Tickers.
We will be wild camping as much as possible with the odd night in a local hostelry to rest our weary bodies and wash our socks!! We aim to complete the walk in 11 days averaging 17 miles per day.”
We will be covering the walk with plenty of video & photo updates, and some of our team will be joining Steve & Josh on their last day into Robin Hood’s Bay! We are also planning a week of walks around our outdoor spaces for the children at Muddy Boots so they can also get involved in the adventure.
For now, here is the Just Giving link you need to donate… let’s do it Muddy Boots Family!
