Here at Muddy Boots, we absolutely love Autumn, and everything it brings with it. The changing of the weather, the need to put on our wellingtons, all the new colours we can discover and plenty of fascinating things to explore on nature walks and in our gardens.
As our little ones interests and curiosity’s grow and develop, our team will be putting out a series of blog posts with their favourite Autumnal ideas that you and your family can have a go at over the weekend. If you do choose to try any, we would love to hear all about it next time your little one is booked in, as well as seeing any pictures.
For this post, our Poppleton manager Rachel has put together some of her favourites:
Go on a nature walk – On your way round, collect as many autumnal objects as possible, such as different coloured leaves, twigs, conkers & pinecones!
Painting & Printing – The perfect afternoon challenge for after a morning nature walk! Grab your sticks, leaves and anything else and do some mark making, printing and painting with them.
Carve or decorate a pumpkin – Don’t just stick to the standard scary eyes and big grin! Why no try turning your pumpkin into your little ones favourite story character instead.
Make Orange or Green Playdough – This is super easy to do, just mix 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, 1 cup of water and 1 table spoon of vegetable oil with a little food colouring! You can even add a little coco powder or cinnamon to give it an interesting smell.
Bake a yummy apple pie – Just because, who doesn’t like a yummy apple pie!
Create a sensory tray – Grab some of the different coloured rice available at the local supermarket and have some fun… you could also add in some leaves and pinecones too!
Listen out and enjoy some fireworks – Always a winner during Autumn is a great fireworks display (more info on our own coming soon!) You could also find some great displays on Youtube to build the excitement in advance.
Design & Create a spooky Halloween Outfit – Get ready for our Halloween fancy dress day on the 31st by creating your very own costume!
