Situated in the grounds of Westfield Primary School, right in the heart of Acomb is our second setting, Muddy Boots Day Nursery Acomb.
Each of the rooms follows the Muddy Boots theme & style to support our curiosity approach to childcare, as well as having direct access to an outdoor garden space, which supports our whole ethos – to not be afraid to let children learn by getting muddy, exploring, going on adventures and getting out there and having a go!
The children who call Muddy Boots day nursery home enjoy a wide range of activities, both indoor and out, planned by our qualified and experienced childcare professionals, who genuinely love and care for all the children, and love what they do!

OUR ROOMS
Discoverers
The Discoverers Room is where all our youngest babies have lots of fun and cuddles. At this very early age, babies are taking everything in – watching and observing everything around them, listening to all the interesting new sounds, and learning by feeling and touching everything in sensory exploration. We work to encourage a baby’s development in a space which is homely, nurturing and stimulating.
Investigators
And they’re off! No longer babies, children in this room are keen to get going and start going on their own little Adventures! Toddlers at this age are starting to find their feet and independence, and it really starts to shine through. Each day the carefully planned activities are engaging and exciting, bringing new challenges and experiences for the children. To support the child in their quest for newfound freedom, adults provide a fantastic environment where children are safe to independently explore, experiment and learn through play.
Innovators
With growing confidence, and with their own unique personality really coming through, children at this age start to really develop social skills and make lasting friendships. In the Innovators Room we support these skills by focusing on group activities, indoors and outdoors, offering lots of physical and social interaction. With a room full of curious resources and treasures and a team with a wealth of knowledge, these little Innovators can spend time developing key skills such as communication and independence whilst fostering that beautiful sense of awe and wonder that our little people already have in abundance.
Pre-School
The Pre-school Room is always buzzing with energy as the children begin their first steps to mainstream education, getting ready to go to Reception at big school. There are opportunities to learn at every turn, including early reading and maths skills, mark-making, imaginative play and ICT, which are reinforced through what we call ‘purposeful play’. Activities and play experiences are planned to ensure each child is challenged and given a chance to learn and develop on an individual basis, whilst having lots of fun of course!
WHAT OUR PARENTS SAY
Both our children have been attending Muddy Boots since 2019. They have both thrived there. This mostly down to the fact that the staff take time to know them really well, what their interests are and how to get the best from them. They've made lots of friends, it’s a really friendly and welcoming place, they are both genuinely happy to spend time there.Our children get involved with loads of different activities over the course of the day, all of which we get to see via the Famly app which is brilliant. We are really happy with the communication and how we get to know how they have spent their day.Overall it’s been a really positive experience for us and we wouldn’t have any hesitation recommending Muddy Boots!
Deciding which nursery to send our child to was one of the biggest decisions of our parenthood at the time.As soon as we step foot in Muddy Boots Acomb, we were welcomed with open arms. They showed us around and had a real interest in us and our child. They answered all our questions and anxieties, putting us at ease straight away. I just felt that this was going to be somewhere they would look after my child the way I would whilst I’m not there.We are now two years down the line and I have two children with Muddy Boots and they absolutely love it! They love going, spending long days there, but they never complain, they are just so happy to be there.Whenever I pick up I get a handover with a report of everything my child has done that day, and the staff make me feel like my child is the only one that goes there. They just seem to know every little detail, and I just feel like the staff are really interested in my child’s wellbeing, and want them to succeed and do well.We are both really ecstatically happy with Muddy Boots, we would shout it from the rooftops and recommend them. If you want your children to be looked after well and taken care of, and to feel like they are number one in their room it’s definitely a place to send them!
We had originally started our twins in another nursery setting, but for a number of reasons it quickly became clear it wasn’t the right place for them. We wanted somewhere more nurturing, with a feeling of family, and we found that and more in Muddy Boots. The staff are warm, friendly, fun and caring. They take time to get to know the children as individuals, and I love how they follow the children’s interests as they set the topics and activities for each week. The office staff are fantastic, always happy to help and have often gone above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Our little boy has a food intolerance, and we’re so grateful for the care that is shown in taking that into account but also ensuring that he isn’t left out. We love the Muddy Boots family!
My daughter joined Muddy Boots earlier in the year and we can’t praise the nursery and staff enough.Since joining the investigators room she has developed a great bond with the team in the room, especially her key person (Beth). They go over and above every day she is in and always keep in mind her interests.The app is great and it’s lovely to get pictures of her enjoying herself at nursery, especially after such a difficult year!
Our eldest daughter joined the Muddy Boots family in Sep 2020 in the middle the of the pandemic, so both our daughter and ourselves were nervous, but the team at Muddy Boots had brilliant processes in place, made our daughter feel valued and gave her confidence to be herself.Since then she has thrived and absolutely loves going, and we fully intend to send our youngest there when they get a little older.The team are approachable and communicate with us really well, we are so glad we chose Muddy Boots over more local childcare providers.
