News: Facilities Team Update (Spring 25)

Our amazing facilities teams have been hard at work throughout the start of this year, and have made some amazing progress and improvements across the group!

Exciting Updates Across Our Nurseries!

We've been busy making some fantastic improvements to create even better environments for our children!

Warm and Cozy in Stamford Bridge:

You might have noticed a lovely difference in the Stamford Bridge Trailblazers and Pioneers rooms! We're thrilled to share that we've upgraded the old heating system to brand new, energy-efficient heating and cooling air conditioning units. The change has been immediate, with staff and children already enjoying a much more comfortable and consistently regulated temperature. This will make a big difference in creating the perfect learning and play atmosphere all year round!

Creating Calmer Spaces in Poppleton:

Over in Poppleton, we've been working on a really exciting project in the large Trailblazers room. To help reduce noise levels and echo, and create a more focused and enjoyable experience for the children, we've divided the room into two smaller, more intimate spaces. The new wall is up, and we're currently working with contractors on the finishing touches like decorating and flooring. Plus, the new Trailblazers room will soon have its very own kitchen, which is on order and due for installation in the coming weeks.

Growing Greener in Poppleton:

We're also continuing to enhance our outdoor spaces in Poppleton! We recently planted another 400 tree saplings around our field, which will create even more wonderful natural boundaries for our Nature School.

A Brand New Nature Adventure in Acomb:

We kicked off the year with a fantastic project in Acomb – a brand new Nature School! Featuring a wonderful tepee and cozy wooden flooring inside, it's already looking like an amazing space for exploration and learning. We're not stopping there! We'll be adding a new toilet cubicle and doing some landscaping around the tepee to make it an even more exciting and engaging feature for the nursery. (We're still deciding on the perfect name for our Acomb Nature School, so watch this space!)

Brighter and More Efficient in Leeds:

Our Leeds nurseries have also seen some great improvements! In Drighlington, our electrical contractors have been hard at work upgrading all the lights to energy-efficient and dimmable LED systems. They've also updated other parts of the electrical system and the central heating. The same team has now started similar upgrade work in Morley and will then be moving on to Gildersome.

Warmer and More Efficient in Morley:

Speaking of Morley, we're delighted to report that the outdoor insulation and rendering were completed in February. This will significantly improve the building's energy efficiency, helping us stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

New Outdoor Fun for Everyone:

Throughout the winter, we've been busy creating new outdoor resources for all our nurseries. Stamford Bridge and Acomb have already received some of these exciting new play items, and the Leeds sites will be getting theirs in the coming weeks.

Springing into Outdoor Action:

Now that the warmer weather is arriving, our focus is shifting back to our wonderful outdoor spaces. Gardening tasks and any necessary outdoor repairs are back on our to-do list, ensuring our gardens and play areas are looking their best for the children to enjoy!
