National Trust Locations: Beningbrough
We’re super grateful to all our families who refer others to Muddy Boots; when they do, they’re given a free 12-month Family Membership to the National Trust! It’s become part of our mission to share some fantastic outdoor spaces near to our nurseries that you can access with your membership, so that you can get the most out of the 12-months. To do that, we’re sharing a series of short blogs with you, talking about some of the amazing outdoor spaces on offer with the National Trust.
This week’s location is Beningbrough. Equipped with a fantastic garden, wilderness play area and art gallery, Beningbrough packs a lot into one location, and you can visit there for free! Open until 5:00pm Wednesday - Sunday during March, and Monday - Sunday until August, you can enjoy walks around the formal gardens that showcase something new all year round as the plants evolve with the seasons. The wilderness play area is a must-have experience for any and every little one at Muddy Boots; with swings, slides, climbing frames and even an area for building dens, it's a perfect fit for adventure whatever the weather!
If you do want to escape any rain, Beningbrough also has the hall and art gallery to explore, where you can delve into the history of the location, and take a look at the different exhibitions that showcase a mix of contemporary and traditional artwork. Until 23rd March 2025, Beningbrough is running ‘The Botanical World of Mary Delany’ exhibition, an English artist known for her floral ‘paper mosaiks’, celebrated as scientifically accurate botanical specimens. If you’re interested in a special exhibition talk, visit Beningbrough Hall on the second Friday in March (14th).
Pop into the restaurant for a bite to eat from their delicious seasonal menus, and have a look at the stables and outdoor shop for homeware, local produce and even some bits to inspire you to grow your own garden at home.
Just a 20-30 minute drive outside of York, Beningbrough is a fantastic place to visit while still staying pretty local. Go on a new outdoor adventure today, and make the most of it with Muddy Boots and the National Trust!
If you’re visiting Beningbrough with your little ones, we’d love to see what you get up to! Why not share some photos with us via Famly?
